PLACES OF INTEREST

There are a significant number of places of interest within easy reach from Hatchers Farm campsite, just some of which we have listed below. There are numerous footpaths criss-crossing our area, leading to surrounding villages, winding through woodland and along riverbanks, including the Wantsum Walk and the Saxon Shore Way.

We are situated on National Cycle Route 1 and the Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve is just a mile from our premises. Canoeing is available at the nearby Grove Ferry, or perhaps you might like to catch the riverbus down to Richborough Castle, or even onto the historic town of Sandwich during the Summer months.

Wingham Wildlife Park, Howletts Animal Park and Wildwood are all short drives away, as are the beaches of Margate and Broadstairs, famous for their golden sands and seafront entertainment. Local to us also there are a couple of vineyards and several cider producers where you can purchase a taste of Kent, with numerous country inns serving excellent local food and ales.

For historic interest, castles situated at Richborough, Deal, Walmer and Dover are well worth a visit, as are the towers at Reculver - the location used by  Barnes Wallis to perfect his famous bouncing bomb, one of the practice bombs can be seen in the Spitfire Museum at Manston.

The Ramsgate tunnels are an amazing feat of engineering over 3 miles long, but pre-booking is essential. Barring that, you could just have a relaxing day out in the medieval towns of Sandwich or Canterbury.

Kent is your oyster!
